Proclamation of Faith / Beliefs
1. BIBLE
We believe the books of the Holy Bible are divinely inspired. (II Timothy 3:16-17)
2. GOD
We believe in the triune unity of the Godhead; expressed as one eternal God who exists in three persons as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 28:19, I Corinthians 8:6, II Cor. 3:17)
3. JESUS CHRIST
We believe that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son Jesus Christ, born of the Virgin Mary, who conceived Him by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus was crucified for the sins of the whole world, was buried, raised from the dead, and ascended to Heaven so that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
4. REPENTANCE
We believe all humans are born sinners and God commands all to repent for the forgiveness of their sins. (Matthew 3:1-2, Acts 3:19)
5. SALVATION
We believe that faith must be placed in the blood of Jesus Christ in order to experience the new birth, be justified and spiritually regenerated. (John3:3, Romans 1:16, I John 3:9)
6. BAPTISM
We believe the great commission given by Jesus Christ is to baptize all who repent, in the name of The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. That baptism is by immersion in water as exemplified by Jesus Christ Himself. (Mark 1:9-11, John 3:22, Acts 8:36-38)
7. SANCTIFICATION
We believe sanctification is a requirement for the Christian and can only be achieved through faith in the blood of Jesus, God’s word and the Holy Spirit. (I Thessalonians 4: 3-4, Hebrews 13:12)
8. HOLINESS
We believe that God requires His people to live holy having a godly standard of purity and integrity of moral character. (Psalm 93:5, 1 Thessalonians 4:7, Hebrews 12:14)
9. HOLY SPIRIT
We believe the baptism of the Holy Spirit is available to all believers that are pure in heart. Speaking in tongues is the first outward evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit and that subsequent utterances are motivated by the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 3:11, Acts 1:5&8, Acts 2:1-4, Acts 19:2-6)
10. HEALING
We believe the atonement of Jesus Christ provides Divine healing to all who believe. (Isaiah53:5, James 5:14-16)
11. HOLY COMMUNION
We believe that partaking of Holy Communion and washing the feet of the saints are vital sacraments. (Matt. 26:26-28, I Cor. 11:23-26, John 13:4-17)
12. RESURRECTION
We believe that when Jesus Christ makes his premillennial return, the dead in Christ shall rise first and be raptured with the living saints to be with Jesus to enjoy eternal life while the wicked will be condemned to eternal punishment. (Matthew 24:27-30, 1 Thess. 4:13-17, II Thess. 1:7-10)
Membership Requirements
Prospective members shall:
1. Receive instructions from the Pastor explaining these membership requirements.
2. Publicly confess and testify that you know the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior in the full pardon of your sins.
3. Walk in the light of the Scripture and abide by the Word of God as He shines upon your path.
4. Practice the spiritual disciplines of prayer, praise, worship, fasting, meditation, and Bible study.
5. Attend Church regularly to the best of your ability.
6. Practice holy living, moral purity, personal integrity, modesty and self-control.
7. Support the church with your tithes & offering to the best of your ability as the Lord prospers you.
8. Stand against gambling, including lotteries and games of chance.
9. Agree to be subject to the counsel and admonition of those who are over you in the Lord such as the leadership officials and ministry leaders of the El Elyon Church of the Most High God.
